The Washington Laundromat (TWL) was founded by Kevin Berger, a New Orleans native. Always wanting to own a laundromat, his dream became a reality in 2017 when he began renovating a previously closed laundromat. He wanted to do something new, fun and community based. Three years later,TWL opened their doors during a trying time in the world, a pandemic that affected many in their city and their families.

On May 2, 2020, they welcomed some of their first customers as the city contemplated on reopening during these vulnerable times.

On August 26, 2021, Hurricane Ida hit southeastern Louisiana and left thousands without power and the ability to wash their clothes. During these difficult times,TWL stayed open and served the people of New Orleans, including electrical engineers working to get the power back up for the city of New Orleans. TWL worked feverishly to help their community get back to a livable state. 

TWL's flagship store in the Broadmoor neighborhood of Uptown New Orleans features a hygienic and inviting space equipped with state of the art washers and dryers, multiple TVs, play areas for children, a desk top workspace, and free, secure, WiFi. TWL also offers a Wash Dry and Fold service for those who do not enjoy washing or are unable to do so. In addition, TWL offers the luxury of having your laundry picked up from and delivered to your location.
